Today marks the successful handover of the MiGu OB 8K Van, our latest OB van project, to our esteemed client, China Mobile. With coach building and systems integration expertly handled by Star Media Production Services and interior design crafted in collaboration with renowned EMG’s Project Builder, this OB van stands as a trailblazer in the realm of OB trucks.
The design concept of the MiGu 8K OB Van is inspired by the exploration of the universe — a realm of wonder and innovation, epitomized by the metaverse, symbolizing our quest to discover the future through groundbreaking creativity. Stepping into this van is akin to embarking on a voyage aboard a spaceship brimming with modernity and futuristic allure.
The body of the MiGu 8K OB Van boasts a state-of-the-art, custom-designed side-pull box frame crafted using advanced mechanical track transmission technology. This innovative setup allows for dual side-pull boxes, measuring 2 meters and 1.8 meters respectively, providing a combined working and research space of approximately 80 square meters when fully expanded. With a capacity to accommodate up to 40 individuals for collaborative efforts, it stands as the largest domestically manufactured vehicle body, setting the bar for both national and international standards.
The interior of the van is meticulously crafted with clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and functional design elements. Geometric shapes, sleek lines, and strategically placed working lights seamlessly meld together. (Our primary objective is to provide a visually appealing and comfortable workspace for up to 34 crew members.) The wall design, characterized by a soothing gray palette, incorporates custom acoustic tunnels to complement the semi-tube shape of the ceiling. Arranged in dynamic configurations, they evoke a sense of movement and energy. The floor design, adorned with arrow-shaped patterns, guides occupants to different work areas with seamless efficiency.
The production area offers flexibility, seamlessly transitioning between a spacious open layout and two distinct sections tailored to specific broadcasting requirements. Acoustic treatment ensures optimal sound quality in the audio area, enhanced further by Dolby Atmos technology for an immersive audio experience. Additionally, all other areas undergo acoustic treatment to minimize noise interference.
Each workstation is thoughtfully designed to foster maximum connectivity and collaboration among operators. The interior ambiance is accentuated by "electric blue" LED light strips, casting a captivating glow across the walls and ceilings. Composite material tables feature integrated blue LED strips, delineating workstation boundaries with elegance and precision.
On the technological front, the MiGu 8K OB van is a trailblazer, being the world's first broadcasting system capable of executing the entire 8K 120-frame video live broadcasting, editing, and production process. It employs the cutting-edge SMPTE ST.2110 standard IP-based broadcasting system technology architecture, supporting HDR high dynamic range, BT.2020 wide color gamut, 10-bit digital quantization depth, and 5.1.4 three-dimensional sound production capabilities. The system's scale meets OBS-A class standards, the highest scale requirement set by Olympic production agencies, with the ability to capture and produce programs using up to eight 8K camera signal channels or thirty-two 4K camera signal channels concurrently. With its compatibility and concurrent production capabilities for both 8K and 4K, the MiGu 8K OB van stands as a testament to leading-edge technological prowess, both domestically and internationally.
